    <description>unknown status has shown up for me for various reasons, windows or linux.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;always check your snmp settings, and any other mgmt protocols that you want to use on the box&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;also try and run your daily identify tasks at times when the network is not heavily used.  outside of business/backup times.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;unknown status means that it was able to ping the server but none of the management protocols configured returned any information&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;so look into the network between SIM/Target as well as protocol settings&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;gl</description>

      <description>Hi ,&lt;BR /&gt;  I am having HP SIM 5.0 for managing the Linux server cc3310 , running RHEL 3 . The status is unknown. &lt;BR /&gt;What agent do I need to install on that linux server .&lt;BR /&gt;It would be very helpful if anyone provides the solution .&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Sudesh</description>
