topic Re: Insight Manager Server in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

HP Systems Insight Manager does not have to be installed on a server. Although a server has important availability features (RAID, ECC memory, etc), it can be installed on any product that meets minimum specs (though my personal experience indicates a 1+GHz processor and 512MB memory). There is no technical reason why you can't host hpSIM on a non-HP device. Just be aware that as you try to run down a problem, if it is one that hasn't been seen before, it may come down to an unknown related to the platform. Customer support may ask you to attempt to duplicate the problem on HP hardware before going further.
