HP SIM requirements are listed in the Quickpecs: http://www.hp.com/go/hpsim --> Quickspecs

SQL2000 is listed, and that is the minimum configuration, so SP4 is acceptable.

There are currently issues with SQL2005, and it is not supported at this time.

There are no current plans to recompile HP SIM as a x86-64 application. The current deliverable supports 32-bit versions of the operating system, and while it should run, x86-64 operating system versions are not currently on the QA test matrix and not officially supported.

Hi Folks

We are migrating to Windows 2003 64bit on HP AMD64 Blade servers. I have read that SIM 5 SP1 is a Win32 application and runs as a Win32 application in a 64bit environment. I have also read that SIM requires either MSDE 2000 SP3a or SQL 2000SP3 but I see not mention of SQL2005 or SQL2000SP4.

I was wondering if there is any 64bit native support roadmap for either the Agents or the Managment server (which both appear to be currently Win32).

Also, is there will SIM work with a SQL 2005 database or is there a roadmap for this support?

Microsoft have an excellant supported operating systems matrix for MOM 2005 and this is the sort of thing I was looking for for SIM.

Kind regards
Ross

HP doesn't officially claim support for SQL 2000 SP4 and SQL 2005. This is my observation. HPSIM works fine with SQL Server 2000 SP4. I have used it for about 6 months and did not see any problems. I have been using SQL 2005 for one of the SIM installations for about 2-3 months now and I personally feel that it is relatively faster than the one setup that uses SQL 2000 SP4.

HPSIM should work on x64 machines too...but not sure. Here again no support is claimed!
