Let's say we run backups on the servers between 11pm and 2am each night, and I don't want to get alerts during this time period.
Or, perhaps I am performing a DR test and expect several reboots and other system disruptions to be occuring.

Is there a way in HP SIM to set Alert blackout periods?
Another option is to use Suspend/Resume monitoring. Here's a discussion on using the CLI to do it: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=805599
