I have read several thread about this topic. And I have tried many of the solutions. But, I have installed, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled, removed the c:\compaq\wbem directory. Pointed the SNMP agents to 127.0.0.1 and to my insight manager server. And nothing seems to work. See my attachment for what I am seeing. I can't see anything with the agents. I even tried the latest Agents and Homepage. I reinstalled the PSP with the overwrite option checked (after renaming the wbem directory). I even uninstalled SNMP and reinstalled it. Nothing is working. Any other ideas?

You could also try installing the latest System Management Homepage (2.1.4.*)
Although it does look like SNMP isn't quite configured right, that's what normally gives the Product as 'unknown'

When you "Pointed the SNMP agents to 127.0.0.1 and to my insight manager server" is that configuring like the attached? (sets the same info as previous post =)

Yep, I added 127.0.0.1 to the trap. The security is set to allow any host. I installed the latest version of both the agents and the homepage. I have removed the wbem directory, reinstalled, uninstalled and million times. The one thing with this server is that it is in a workgroup not in a domain.

Ok, based on the screenshot from your original post - all the apps show up on the left but the system is unknown and no data is displayed. This looks like some sort of SNMP configuration issue. You said you set it to allow any hosts, you mean TRUST ALL? Are you using HPSIM? If you are using HPSIM and you have one of the latest versions you might try running the Configure or Repair Agent Settings option against the system and see if it can get it repaired. If you are not using HPSIM please turn the security setting back to Certificates - this setting will have nothing to do with the problem you are seeing, and TRUST ALL is the least secure of all the settings (as the name implies).

-Rich

I have seen this once before and it turned out to be the VC Agent. When I stopped the service manually in the OS, everything started working again. It was a timing issue with the VC Agent. It would hang at start up and the SMH would not pickup all the information. I think there was an update to the VCA for this.

Good luck!

It looks a bit like management agents 7.10 or older are installed. I would suggest to do this:

-Verify if you are running an Apache http-server on your managed system. In my experience this sometimes messes up with the HP agents install, which must be running some HP custom Apache installation.
-Verify if the SNMP-service is running, and contains a valid SMNP-community

-Download and install the latest Support Pack (7.40 at time of writing)
-Reboot the machine
-Open the local SMH
If it still does not show up correctly, verify:
-Settings, Security, Local/Anonymous Access
-Check 'Local Access', 'Administrator'
-'Save Configuration'

This should do for verifying the local SMH.

For remote access from the HPSIM-server to the Managed System, the SNMP-communities should be configured correctly and the Trust Mode must be set to either 'Trust by Certificate' (preferred) or 'Trust All', depending on your configuration.
If you change any settings here, you will need a new Discovery of your Managed System in order to get the changed settings recognised by the HPSIM-server.
