We're also going to try a pilot of SIM on ESX... but not for a few weeks... if you get no useful responses, leave the thread open and I'll post our findings.

Regards,
David

Hi all,

Has someone installed the CMS on a proliant ESX virtual machine (windows)? I wish to try SIM before buy a new proliant. In case...I did see on release notes it needs PSP 6.30 or later installed even on CMS is this necessary only for monitoring CMS itself and it's possible install PSP on a virtual machine or should I only install the PSP for ESX server?
Thanks you very much!

FYI, fine for pilot purposes, but HP SIM is not supported within a virtual machine.

See the document "Deploying a VMware Virtual Infrastructure with HP ProLiant servers, storage, and management" from http://www.hp.com/servers/activeanswers -->
Infrastructure solutions --> VMware for server consolidation and virtualization

...for what needs to be where to make ESX hosts and guests manageable.
