topic sim5 timeouts in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

Have a question about timeouts that the docs don't answer clearly. There are Global protocol settings where you can define icmp and snmp timeouts. I read that those are used as default settings for discovery and status polling.

I go to All Scheduled tasks and want to monitor let's say one server overseas. So I setup a hardware status polling task for one server. The timeout is set to 4, and the retry is set to 2. My questions are:

If snmp timeout is setup under the global settings for 5 second timeout and 1 retry, and then in the task setting for 4 second timeouts and 2 retries, which setting will take place or will they be combined?

Also, ICMP is not a choice in the task. Will it be used anyway as a default setting? Thanks.
