Looking for the requirements of read and read-write community strings for SNMP. Are both required in the snmp configuration on each managed system?

So what function does read-only provide compared to read-write? Does read-only collect the health status information and read-write take care Version Control requirements? Any moere details you have is certainly appreciated.

There is a lot of infomration that contradicts itself on SNMP.

So let me get this straight...it is recommended to have both read-write and read-only community strings in the SEcurity Tab.

The read-only is used for Polling for HW and SW status information collection.

The read-write is sent via HTTPS and is used for setting thresholds, configure and repair agents, clearing the IML, etc.

Let me know if this is correct.

Also the Trap destinations are set in the trap tab and it requires a CMS with a community name.
