I had the same problem with a DL580. I had to go into the BIOS setup and populate the serial number. The motherboard had been replaced and did not make this change. Once I did that and rediscovered the server, the problem was corrected.

I'm trying to get a serial number to appear in SIM, but the field won't populate, however, most of the other fields do. The SNMP settings are configured and correct, and the server was imaged off of another DL580. Why wouldn't it work like the rest of the machines? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
--Rich

That is standard if the Motherboard has replace but should be unneccessary otherwise.

The Reports pick these up from the R_ Tables, if a Data Collection task has not been run you may not see tehse details. But you should see the S/N from the Server Home Page.
