New servers take upto 48 hours to display in CIM7. The auto discovery typically runs twice a day. Anyone having or seen similar situation?

By default Auto-Discovery should runs once a day. Then there's the device identification task. It may be that you have Filters enabled. New devices are being discovered but not identified and then only appearing once the following device identification task has run.

It's a separately scheduled task. Look under Logs / View All Scheduled Tasks. The Daily Identification Task is the one that will identify devices.

Actually when discovery runs and finds a system, identification is run immediately on that system.

Identification will also run on a daily basis against all systems (by default).

As to why it takes 48 hours, that is not normal. How big is the discovery range?

My quick calculation in my head shows you're pinging somewhere around 5,000 addresses. I'm a little surprised that it takes only 45 minutes to complete.

One thing I'm wondering about is which protocols you are using/have enabled. It does seem that it takes a considerable amount of time for devices that are strictly WBEM devices to be identified.

The discovery usually runs during off hours, but I've occasionally run it before most users arrive and it completes in less than hour.

Here are the protocols setup for discovery.

IP range pingin and SNMP auto-discovery

Protocol settings for SIM
WBEM, SNMP and DMI
