Folks, I see a number of you are having troubles with the Blade pictures and associations not showing up properly in SIM.

The main way to resolve this is to make sure you are running the latest version of the firmware and software - if you aren't, I can pretty much assure you that you'll see problems.

You need to upgrade the blade server FW, the iLO FW (1.84), the FW in the enclosure (2.30), and the FW in the switches (2.2 for the GbE2, 12.2(25) for the Cisco) to the latest versions. You also need to be running the latest agents (7.51) and SIM SP4.

After you do this, rediscover the blades with HPSIM and after a little bit of identification time you should see the correct pictures. If you don't, please let us know by calling into HP support.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi @ all,

I confirm, we have the same problem.
All 6 power supplies in the Power Enclosure shown question marks and additional detail are not available. e.g.:
Serial Number CZJ6130043
UUID 05CZJ6130043
Rack Name Rack-G02
Firmware Revision Not Available
Power Zone Not Available
Unit ID (LED) Not Available.
(see attached screenshot)
We have BL35p and BL25p with 1U Power Enclosure. Blade Encl FW updated to 2.32. Power Encl FW updated to 2.32. Blade, I added to SIM to discover the
enclosure is updated to PSP 7.60, iLO FW udated from 1.82 to 1.84. Online ROM Flash Component for Windows - HP ProLiant BL35p (A03) updatetd to 2006.03.01. SIM 5.0 (Build C.05.00.02.00) reinstalled on other DL380. Rack, BL Encl, Power Encl deleted and readded to SIM. Problem still exist.
What can we do to solve this problem?

PS: iLO shows all detail absolutely correct:
Enclosure Type: Power Enclosure G2
FW Revision: 2.32
HW Revision: 5
Load Balance Wire: Not Present
Temperature: 36°C
Temp. Side A: 36°C
Temp. Side B: 36°C
Why this data is not shown in SIM?

Please advise.
Regards,
Juergen

Hi Ray,
1. FW version : Start>Programs>HP System Tools > HP Proliant BL Rack Upgrade Utility : Server Blade Enclosure and Power Enclosure both FW 2.32 (I updated it last week). iLO Rack View shows the same FW version. (see my screenshot in the last posting)
2. SIM 5.0 SP5 build C.05.00.02.00 downloaded from hp.com and installed as typical installation by me last week.
3. HP Insight Management Agents for Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003 : 7.60.0.0 (installed on one blade which I try to discovery for Enclosure). Other blades are not added to SIM and have PSP 7.40
(see attached screenshot).
Regards,
Juergen

I think the reason for this problem was firewall blocked SNMP traffic between iLO network and server network.

Solution:
1. I let enable SNMP Traffic(ports 161-162) and SMH (2381) to iLO network.
2. Removed all blades, Encl and Racks from SIM
3. Updated BladeSystem IM Plug-In for SIM from v2.1 to 2.2
4. Re-discovered iLO network as first.
5. Re-discovered server network ...
... and finally I can see all enclosure details and funny pictures in SIM!
see attached screenshot.
ciao
Juergen
