There are a couple things you should check.

In control panel click on the HP Management Agents. Under the services tab make sure you have under the "Active agents" section all components you wish to monitor. For example we have all active except for Rack, Cluster and Remote Insight Information. (Except on our clusters and servers that have the ILO's connected).

If you had the correct components under the Active Agents then you may want to make sure your alert task is set up correctly. For example we have a task that e-mails our group for all systems for critical, major, minor and normal alerts.

Also, if you did not receive your alert to your e-mail or pager as you had expected you can still click on the server within SIM and look under the events tab to see if the alert at least was sent to the SIM. If you see the alert here then it is possible that there was something wrong with your paging or e-mail system during the time you should have got the alert.

If you see the alert in SIM make sure it is critical. You can control the severity of alerts but this would be rare and so I won't get into this unless you say that SIM rec'd the alert and that it DID NOT show it as critical.

Hope this helps.

MJ

hi Michael

i checked the active agents as you had told.
and there was no events in the event list of sim regarding the processor failure. i had send a test trap as well i enabled one NIC card and found the trap was send and i received a mail too .
its seems that the sim is working fine now but i am not getting why it did not send a trap for the processor failure.

thanks for your reply , if you have any clue pls post it
The IML had the failure message.
