topic Low disk space trap generation in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

Hi all.

I am trying to get answers to our problems on this forum though we are not using HPSIM for monitoring. We are using instead the software MIB Browser on a XP Windows PC.

The point is we have many different servers, some of them being HP Proliant running Red Hat Linux, so there we have installed HP Insight Management Agents.

Now, I would like to test all is well configured, so my first thought was to generate traps on the server and check they are received by the manager.

I tried shutting down an interface by means of 'ifconfig eth1 down' but no trap is generated. I don't even know if this is a task for the NIC Agent or what.

Then I have read about generating traps of disk usage, here the problem is I cannot use SIM to set up the disk thresholds. Can I use instead some SET command from the SNMP manager? What MIBs and agents (cmaperfd?, cmathreshd?) are involved? I need to know the specific variables to set.

I would very much appreciate your help.
