Pardon my ignorance but I'm a bit confused as to best practice for setting SNMP Community rights. I've read in SIM documentation that both SIM server and managed nodes should be set to READ CREATE, on here that they need only be READ WRITE on the managed node and READ ONLY on the SIM server.

I'm sure it's not rocket science but can anyone set me right?

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,
In the early days of the IM 7 Forum some advice was to set it to Read/Create as this worked.

It was subsequently found that Read/Write worked fine.
David's thread obviously answers the detail.

I've created a separate IM Community name for Read/Write Access.
You can go as far as removing the public community name if you wish, for additional security.

Thanks Rob, we weren't overly keen on using the public community string and have subsequently removed it.
