Hello

I have trouble with discovering our 380G4 servers ILO boards. We have set the SNMP settinga in the ILO to point to the SIM servers IP and all settings enabled.
But still when we try to add the ILO to our SIM we are not able to. I have treid to read through documentation from HP, with no luck.
We are running FW1.84 on the ILO.
What can we do to add our ILO's in the SIM.

Thank you in advance.
Tommy

This may sounds silly, but you DO have a network cable plugged into it and you CAN ping it?

Hi and thanks for your replys.

First of all: yes we have the cables plugged in and we can ping and also log on to administer/use the iLO.

I checked the link you send and it did not clear things for me.
In the v1.84 firmware you can not set the option: SNMP/Insight Manager --> HIGH

In the administration tab--> SNMP/Insight Manager we have enabled the following:
SNMP Alert Destinations:
-iLO SNMP alerts
-forward Insight Manager Agents SNMP alerts
-SNMP pass-thru
SNMP alert destination is set to the IP of our SIM5 server and we can send a test trap to the SIM server.
In Configure Insight Manager Integration we have set the iLO to point the "host" servers DNS name.

As i see it thit should be enough for the SIM to be able to discover but it can't.

Does this make sense?

Best Regards
Tommy

When you ping and log into the iLO, do you try that from a workstation on the network or from the HPSIM server console itself?

Hello Tommy,

It seems perfect, strange it still does'nt discover Ilo.
Have you tried a manual discovery using the Ilo Ip?

SRH

The older ILO F/W had a section where you specified the level of data returned, that needed to be set to at least Medium for the ILO / Server match ups to work.
Later F/W versions just seem to have Data return Enabled or Disabled. You'll want that enabled.

I just ensure the ILOs and Servers are in the Discovery Ranges. You could try a manual discovery on the appropriate IP Address.

The other thing to check is that you do not have Discovery Filters enabled, or if you do that you're not excluding management processors.

Hi all

We seem to have found the problem. We can ping the iLO's from every workstation we have on the network and also from some of the servers, but we found out that we could NOT ping from the management server itself. But from the management server we CAN ping RILOS and older versions of management processors.
We have now asked the network department to check up on the swithches as it seems to be one of then who has a faulty arp table.

But thank you very much for your help anyway.

BR
Tommy

First what i'm complete it SNMP Alert Destination, then i'm enable SNMP Alerts and other 2 parameters, then i'm enter ip address of SIM server to Insight manager Web Agent URL , apply settings and setart iLO card. Now i can ping it from SIM server and add to SIM. :)
