SIM 5.0 and 4.2 on same network

Hello,

I am in the process of upgrading from sim 4.2 to sim 5.0 I just finished building a new server with sim 5.0 installed. I noticed that ever since the new sim system came online, i no longer am getting critical uncleared events. As if the 4.2 is no longer monitoring. I used to get them daily.

Right now I do not have any systems discovered on sim 5.0

Anyone experience this? is it bad to have 2 different versions running on the same lan? i was planning to shut down 4.2 as soon as 5.0 is fully configured. Thanks for your help

Hello ike,

Its perhaps not a good practice to install different version of Management tool in the same LAN,logically it does'nt make sense because both would do the same job.

Schedule a downtime and take the SIM 4.2 server offline and configure the SIM 5.0 server.

Ok, thanks for your reply. I'll shut down 5.0 and configure it offline. Do you think I have to do anything special to have 4.2 resume proper montiroing again?

Afaik, nothing extra needs to be done.
Incase SIM 4.2 still does'nt report without the SIM 5.0,try Configure/Repair agents.
