SIM - LINUX managed System

Hi,

I am working on SIM version 5 (windows 2003 server),and i would like to manage LINUX systems.
If i can't deploy Proliant Support Pack, (because my hardware is not proliant),which is the better way to monitor these systems by SIM.
SNMP,WBEM, etc..?

Seems that the better way is via SNMP.But i have a question:
How can i configure SNMP agent to notify hardware fault?
