Hi Waldorf,

What is the version of the HP SIM and the SP?

Support for SQL Server 2005 was introduced with hp SIM 5.0 SP5.

SQL Server 2005 Express Edition may not supported as of now with SIM 5.0 SP5.

If you feel if it is something to do with the port then you could change the port by editing the file database.props found under <SIM installation="" directory="">/config folder.

Modify the line hp.Database.portnumber=<PORT> to the new port. By default, it is 1433.

Then, Restart the HP Systems Insight Manager service and the HP Virtual Machine Management Service service, if installed.

Hope this answers!!!!

Regards,
rmn
</PORT></SIM>

I currently have an sql server that i have also installed SQLEXPRESS onto. I am attempting to install SIM onto this server, when i get to the select DB, i try to select express but i get an error, "unable to get information from the specified database server". When i select the full version of SQL it works no problems. I have tried to change ports but i still get the same error. I currenty have SIM on a test server running just fine using SQLEXPRESS. Does anyone know a way around this. thanks

Thank you both for your imput, i am some what confused, when you say its not supported does this mean i cant get help or that it does not work?

if it be the latter then you are incorrect as i mentioned i have it running on a test machine. the only difference is that I installed the Express version first then full SQL. it WORKS.
If i install SQL Full, then SQL Express then SIM, it DOES NOT WORK.

Hi Waldorf,

No Silver bombs here.........

You have already proved that it can be installed but with a different procedure.

Then why not try the same thing on this server as well.
I think this may be something to do with dependencies with the SQL2005 full version and the SQLEXPRESS 2005.

Not sure about that!!! not tried it personally.

Regards,
rmn
