I need some help to get 5 Dell Poweredge servers into SIM. I got so far that I can see the Hardware status on the servers but thats it. Is that all I can see? I have downloaded the latest mib files from Dell and tried to compile them to SIM. When I run the compile command it says that compilation started and the nothing else. No message saying that the compilation is finished or failed. So now I'm stuck. Please advise me what to do.

Still no .cfg files. Can I start another compilation while another one is running? Or do I have to wait for the first one to complete first?

Hi Robert,

I've done this recently and there were a couple of mibs that didn't compile immediately so I thumbed through the error message given and using a bit of intuition realised that the HP SIM compiler didn't recognise some of the parameters in Dell's mibs. But this was only for two or three of the mibs, the rest were fine without intervention. The bonus from this was that for any Dell server now showing up in HP SIM I can go to the Tools & Links tab and Server Administrator link is sitting there (assuming that you are running the Open Manage software on your Dell server). I believe it's the Open Manage software that alerts SIM to any issues, cos as soon as I got these mibs installed I had one or two Dell servers alerting with SCSI disk errors and was able to use the Server Assistant link to interrogate the server (see attachment)
