HP SIM installation - Remote SQL database permissions

Hello,
I know there are other treads related to this but after reading and trying, none of the solutions proposed are working.

here the msg : unable to connect to specified host. please check the host database and port values provided.

It's a W2003 std server with sql2000 SP4.
Firewall is disabled.

Please help me.

Hello Vandecan,

verify you have access to the SQL server from the SIM server at all by doing any SQL query to any DB on the SQL server.
You can do that either from the SQL client or by using osql.exe utility (you will need msvcr71.dll as well) if you want to avoid client installation.
