You'll only get a trap sent when the threshold is crossed or when the agents restart.

I don't think you don't need the VMWare MIBs unless you're sending traps from VirtualCentre.

I installed HP SIM agent on the esx 3 server.
But i am not getting diskspace treshold warnings.
I create a .vmdk which utilizes 97% of the free disk space.
On standard windows boxes i do get the warnings.

How has the solution for me.

It works here so I'd check the following;
SNMP correctly configured to send traps to HPSIM Server
Latest version of the agents installed - 7.60B for ESX 3.0.1
Yup hpsim is installed correctly latest version.
(like i have done many times at different places)

When i reboot the esx server i get a response from hp sim.

I think it has to do with the fact that they didn't install ssh that comes along with hp sim install???

No, ssh is not used in this, it's snmp sending the trap back to the hpsim server.
You should have a couple of lines like the following in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf

trapcommunity public
trapsink myhpsimserver.com public

public may be different if you've changes the default ro community name.

The fact HPSIM picks up a server being shutdown relies on the HPSIM server pinging the VMHost server. The traffic from the HP Agent is the other way.
I will test further tomorrow.
We have setup disk treshold correctly, so i am really suprised i don't seen anything from the esx servers.

I didn't import the vmware-mibs, because i am not interested in vmware related traps only the service console.
