topic Daily Device Identification tasks in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

I am having a problem when 'Daily Device Identification' tasks about 5 hrs to complete for about 2000 (servers, RILOs, & ILO). Currently running on a ProLiant DL585 G1 with AMD 4 dual 2.44GHz processor, 8GB of RAM and 1000 full network, Win2k3 sp1, SQL 2000 SP4 enterprise version, and HP SIM 5(SP5) installed on same server.

During Daily Device Identification the processors stay between 5 and 30% and the RAM is at 2.9GB. Network bandwidth stays between 5 - 10%.

It just doesn't seem like the server is working all that hard and the tasks are taking forever, also HP SIM console does not function.

I am thinking to change schedule for 'Daily Device Identification' tasks from daily to ‘when new systems or Events meet list criteria’ , by doing this is there any problem or not?.

Thanks,
