It uses wbem protocols.
In HPSIM, you need WBEM enabled globally but you don't need any credentials.
Under the server specific wbem credentials I've got a wbem entry for the server itself and a second entry for the wbem to SMI-S interface that links CV EVA to HPSIM.

SMI-S should have been installed by default as part of the CV EVA 6 install.

The credentials are administrator / administrator by default I think.

You then need to run a Discovery for the server running CV.

That should have worked unless someone has changed the default password.

I've actually upgraded to CV EVA 6.0.1 and there were some changes in that. But you can check to see if you have a HP StorageWorks SMI-S CIMServer service running. Or something else that mentions SMI-S. Not sure if that changed between 6.0 and 6.0.1.

I've a feeling you need to explicitly change the SMI-S password, so the one you used should have worked.
There is the option to not install SMI-S as part of CV EVA, so that may be the issue. A typical install does install it though.
