Note:

Another restart of the service:

service hpvmmcntsvc restart

...seems to have fixed this issue. I do think someone should review the vmmsrc.xml file and the install routine to fix this bug.

Recently I tried to install a

I had the same results as the user in this thread:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1082033

His fix did seem to fix the register host issue. I reviewed the vmmsrc.xml file from package hpvmmagent.tar on a new install of SIM 5.1

<SERVICE id="$1">

<RULE id="0000">
<DIRECTION>inbound</DIRECTION>
<PROTOCOL>tcp</PROTOCOL>
<PORT type="dst">
<BEGIN>1124</BEGIN>
<END>1126</END>
</PORT>
<FLAGS>-m state --state NEW</FLAGS>
</RULE>
<RULE id="0001">
<DIRECTION>outbound</DIRECTION>
<PROTOCOL>tcp</PROTOCOL>
<PORT type="dst">
<BEGIN>1124</BEGIN>
<END>1126</END>
</PORT>
<FLAGS>-m state --state NEW</FLAGS>
</RULE>
</SERVICE>

This file is not properly loaded via the install script to the services.xml file. Maybe due to the at the end?

I had to manuall add it and enable for firewall access from the SIM.

My issue now is it does not seem to be registering the vm on the host, error:

Host has no VMs registered

Note:
1) All VMs do show identification as VMware Virtual Platfor... in the SIM Product Colume.

2) I do have another server (VM Server on Win32) that works fine after installing the VMM on that host. Host and VM's all show up properly.

P.S. I did put in a service call yesterday, but no one has returned my call yet. So I am seeking and help in getting this issue resolved.

- joe
