We currentally run CIM7. We also have PRS (Proactive Remote Service) loaded on the same server. PRS forwards serviceable events to HP for service dispatch.

We want to upgrade to SIM. Will PRS work with it the same way it does with CIM7?

Thanks

Overall, we recommend running hpSIM in parallel with IM7 for some period of time before moving over to hpSIM. This is in keeping with good IT practices. A transition utility is under development that will be available late Q1/early Q2 to assist in performing the upgrade from IM7 to hpSIM (i.e. brings historical data forward, converts your tasks, queries, etc).

You should contact your HP services representative for information regarding PRS.

Russell -

I agree with David, The product is so new and support for it is still at a very early stage. If your environment is running fine with IM7, I would recommend that keep it running for a few months and run SIM in a test environment.

I totally agree. I do plan to run parallel. I was just wondering if PRS would work with SIM

I finally got through to someone at HP that knew what Proactive Remote Service was, and according to what they told me, this has not been tested and certified to work with SIM yet.

We rely on this service very heavily, and it works hand-in-hand with CIM7.

Our decision to move to SIM hinges on this working with it.

Does anyone else use this service at all?

Beth, Russell,
I think this is a case of someone will need to be first!
We don't use PRS here, how does it talk to CIM 7? and how do you get CIM 7 to forward events?
Most of the functionality from CIM 7 is replicated, but there are a few gotchas around the equivalent of the Application Launch feature in SIM, namely its reliance on OpenSSH.

Could you not just configure an Automatic Event Handler to send an email when the "event category" is "HP Service Event"?
