I have an automatic event handler setup to send an email for any event. All I get is login/logout and system unavailable messages. I never get any email/events if a disk is pulled out of the logical array or anything else.

The two events you describe are both generated by HPSIM itself, outages via its polling task.

In order for disk alerts etc. to be generated snmp needs to be configured correctly.

The agent on the remote server detects the issue and then sends an snmp trap to HPSIM.
So snmp needs to have the Trap destination set to point to the HPSIM Server. Community names also need to be correct.
