HP SIM 5.1 Installation Issues (Custom Installation Path etc ...)

Hello,

our HPSIM5.1 installaion was going wild and generating more than 60GB SQL DB and several GB of logfiles - I decided to uninstall HP SIM on the management server and make a new installation on a different partition.

Our "C" partition is 10 GB large and I like to install HP SIM on the "D" partition - with 120GB free space.

I tried to modify the "silent.xml" but the SIM Installation ignore that completly!

The relevant entries in the silent.xml are:

domadmin
domainname
sql-server

master
1433

hpsim
domainname

D:\Programme\HP
SIM
false

---

I'm starting the installation with these parameters:

c:\sim\hpsim\win_ia32\setup.exe C:\SIM\hpsim\win_ia32\silent.xml -dbpw "domadmin-pw" -svcpw "hpsim-pw"

HP SIM is completely ignoring me and try to install on the "C" partition

Does anyone have any hints for me?

Yes, create the subdirectories that you want to install the app before you run the command, and plant your xml on the correct installation partition. I have had trouble with the silent installs creating their own sub-directories.

I've tried your hint and created the directory in advance ... but ... setup won't work as supposed.

Robert,

Have you tried to install SIM using interactive mode? You can perform a custom install and then specify the disk drive and directory you wish to use.

Sure I tried ... if you select interactive install you can't select an installation path. SIM installs always to %programfiles% (=c:\program files)

When you select a custom install you will not be prompted for the SIM install path until after the SIM installation begins.
