Unable to add server to SIM

I am trying add to 2 servers to HP SIM. When I run discovery only 1 server shows up with both IP address in the Identification Address section of the System.

If I delete the system and add just 1 of the servers (maually or automatically)it shows up with only it's address in the Identification Address section.
If I add the second server it completes discovery without errors but doesn't add the server, it only adds the IP of the second server in the Identification Address section of the first server.

I have checked name resolution and everything resolves correctly. I've flushed the DNS cache and I'm not using any hosts files, the 2 servers have never had the same IP address assigned and they're static not DHCP.

Has anyone had this problem or any ideas to resolve?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Do you try to add the machine with only it IP Address and not host name?

Yes, I've tried both just the IP and just the name. If I've already added both servers it errors with IP alredy exists, If I've only added one server it adds the IP to the first.
Although the log shows correct resolution of the name.

Ed,

Do you use an imaging process to build your servers?
Try the following:
delete the servers from sim
Then on both servers delete hklm\software\compaq insight agent\hostguid in the registry.
Then restart snmp on both servers.
Then rediscover both ip addresses.

We didn't image these they were installed with SmartStart. I also checked I also checked last months inventory and both servers were in the database at that time.
We haven't made any changes to them since they were installed.

Thanks

I also had this same trouble. First, please make sure that those IP addresses are not showing under All Systems page. It could be that they are not being recognized as servers and that is why you are getting errors.

When I had this happen, I deleted both servers in Sims. Then I went into our DNS and deleted their records (we also use static IP's) I let that replicate and then I re added both servers to Sims successfully.

We used to see issues like this when one dns server had the server listed with the wrong ip and our other dns servers were set fine.

Dana
