Hi thanks for that. I have checked SNMP traps both ends, and they are alike. I am getting "The device does not have any supported instrumentation"

I am running HP SIM v5 on a W2K3 box with SP2. It has collected data on a number of Novell and W2K servers. However, when using the Data Collection option I don't seem to be able to get any other info on the servers that are missing details.

To start with some appear as type server, with no details, some appear as unknown with no details. When I try to collect data from them it fails.

When looking on the remote servers, the mgmt agents are installed and set to receive SNMP from any source. (Most, if not all, remote servers missing details are W2K3)

Any help much appreciated before my head does a second rotation around my body and eventually snaps off !!

Sounds like SNMP is the problem. Have you set the correct community names in both SIM and on the managed nodes.

You said that the SNMP is set to receive SNMP from any source - so that sounds OK (although not as secure).

Also, check to make sure you are using Support Pack 7.3 or higher on the managed nodes. Lower versions do not support SP1 or higher for Win2003.

Nelson
