snmpd had crashed on four servers and was down for over an hour. Hardware status polling did not indicate any problem whatsoever. Isn't hardware polling supposed to connect to SNMP?

Tasks & Logs / View All Scheduled Tasks

Select "Hardware Status Polling for Servers" and click "Edit", then "Next".

SNMP is checked. HTTP and WBEM are not checked.

Version: Systems Insight Manager 5.1 - Linux
Build version: C.05.01.00.00
Build date: 2006-12-14 14:06
I think it also uses Ping, so polling is a check to ensure the server is still reachable. Not too sure why Ping is no longer listed but I'm sure it is used.
