Installed the new HP SMHP v2.1.8.179.
The home page is not poulated with agent information. We have a large implementation of servers and re-deploying the agent is not a viable option. Is there defined steps that I can perform at the local server to force this update without re-deploying agent? I am using SMS and Tivoli to push the new SMHP so I have an opportunity here to perform these steps while I am at the server and include in my Software package.

Russ

I have seen this happen on our linux servers. The only way I could resolve the issue was to reconfigure hpasm. I didn't change anything just ran the command to reconfigure.

If you are not running Linux then I don't have a clue.......stopping and starting snmp helpped some times but was not consistant.

Mark

We have found that a reboot - which effectively restarts these services does not provide the populated SMHP either. I am still struggling with a "patch" that is really an "upgrade" which results in a complete re-deploy. We have successfully gotten the agent to install silently. So here is the sequence of events we are faced with:

Deploy SMHP
Re-deploy agent to get SMHP to populate.

To backout:
Uninstall SMHP new version
Re-install SMHP old version
Re-install agent.

And all this based on no release notes.
I was hoping to find a way to eliminate the agent redeploy and have been unsuccessful. I have talked with HP and they have no other alternative path they are aware of.

Reboots/service restarts do not work.

Anyone have a better idea? I am willing to try anything at this point.

Russ,
Are you saying that all you installed on your systems is SMH 2.1.8.179 and you stopped getting agent data populated in the SMH? What version of the agents and SMH did you have running prior to that? Was it working before you installed this version of the SMH?
I have to tell you that SMH does not decide what gets populated within its framework. That is done by the web agents and web applications. So if there is nothing being populated within SMH then it is not necessarily an issue with SMH. That is why I am asking if it was working prior to this.

-Rich

Yes - it was working - the new SMH does not repopulate. We have gotten this to work but only but reinstalling the base agents. It is UGLY but based on talkign with HP this is what is required......go figure. You would think there would a littel more smarts to the upgrade patch?. This is the third patch/upgrade and they all worked like this.
