I'm installing SIM 5.2 on a Proliant DL380 G5 with Windows 2003 R2 64-bit SP2. SIM installs and functions without problems. The Remote Support Software Manager installs ok but fails when trying to register. I've verified that the proxy settings are not the problem.

Anyone have any ideas?

Is RSSM not supported on Windows 2003 with R2, 64-bit, or SP2?

Are you installing it via Remote Desktop? If so make sure you are in Console mode.

Or just do the install physically on the server.

note: You may have to uninstall and reinstall to see some results.

Hope that helps.

leon.

I had this exact same issue. I worked on it for two weeks. Finally I got ahold of a 2nd level RSP support tech who had seen this issue. He walked me through these steps via an HP-Rooms session.

You have to remove RSSM, Under System Properties\Advanced\ you have to "Turn DEP (Data Execution Prevention) on for essential Windows programs and services only", then re-install RSSM from the console.

Evidently DEP's default setting prevents the RSSM install java scripts from executing properly.

Let me know if this fixes your issue.

Thanks! I'll give that a try and let you know if it worked. I've put this off to the side since I've had other things to work on and really wasn't "critical"...

I'll try your suggestion this week....

thanks again,

c

Please note that RSSM is not supported on virtual machines yet.

You wont be able to use the Contract and Warranty features unless you install on a physical proliant server (not 1xx series)

Does anyone know if DEP can be set back to "all programs and services" after the installtion is complete? Or is it necessary to leave it for Insight Remote Support or RSSWM to operate properly?
