Windows 2003 SP1
HP SIM 5.1 SP1
Previously working Storage Essential 5.1 SP4 configuration.

SE GAED was reporting a fatal error. Support recommended reinstalling SIM Connector. After reinstallation, https://"FQDN::50000/ files with "The page cannot be displayed".

HP System Insight Manager service is running, has been restarted and the server rebooted. SIM Connector has been deinstalled and server rebooted.

I am looking for alternatives to reinstalling HP SIM and losing the existing database.

I'd escalate that back to Support seeing as you have a call open.
There are a few logs that HPSIM details some info in, you could check those for any clues.
