I have managed to successfully install HP 5.1 SP1 but during the installation of HP PMP I received the following error message, â HP Performance Management Pack was unable to create the HP Performance Management Pack database. Aborting the installationâ , this occurs after downloading HP SIM 5.1 SP1 again and running the â PMP.exeâ installation directly!

The installation account is a domain admin and has full access rights to the Master database on the remote SQL server.

If the PMP database already exists would this cause an issue or would the DB simple be re-created?

What is the default DB name?

I have also attached the installation log file and would appreciate any assistance that can be provided.

Hello Anthony,

As per the Logs ... it says it has installed PMP successfully.
Try adding the PMP menu options manually by performing one
of the following:

- From the command line, enter:

mxtool -a -f "<PMP installation="" path="">:
\Performance Management Pack 3\
ToolsMenu\PMPTools.xml"

- Copy PMPTools.xml from <PMP installation="" path="">:\Performance
Management Pack 3\ToolsMenu to <SIM installation="" path="">:\System
Insight Manager\Setup.

Then, restart HP System Insight Manager Service.

Regards.</SIM></PMP></PMP>

It would be fine, if you attach pmpdb.log (installation log created in system drive) with this, for better understanding of the problem.

Thanks.

I have seen where an existing PMP database, or more usually just the files are left behind causing a similar issue.
Files will start with PMP_V3_0
You can try dropping the database if it's there and deleting the files before installing PMP.

You might also want to save some time and download PMP 4.5 and install that rather than 4.4 that comes with 5.1 SP1
