Thanks.

It looks like over night it finally appeared. So the good news is I didn't have to wait for the auto discovery to work....bad news is it took all day to find it and I really don't why.

At least its back. I shall try some of things you mentioned the next opportunity I get. Thanks.

If I invoke the discovery and/or try to manually add a new server, it does not work.

But if I allow the scheduled discovery to run by itself, it works.

Is there a patch for this? My DNS, etc is all good but I just cannot seem to make any manual changes. Even if I was to delete a server, I will not get it back until the scheduled discovery invokes itself.

Thanks.

P.S. Running HP SIM 4.00c

DNS doesn't have any impact on the ability of IM to discover Servers.

There should be no reason why a scheduled discovery works and a manual one does not. As far as I'm aware it's the same process.

So, what's different between the scheduled time and manual?
Are there some Network loadings that are stopping the Discovery process from getting a response quick enough during the day?
You could try increasing the Global Protocol Settings for Ping, say the number of Retries, I'm not sure if this is used by the Discovery Process.
You could try scheduling teh Discovery process for during the day to see if that gave the same results.

I'm having the same issues. All of a sudden I cannot manually add or edit a device. Eventually happens if I let it sit. Anybody knows what could be causing this??

It is probably waiting for the Daily Device Identification to run before releasing the results to the database.

By default, it runs once a day. Check Logs -> View All Scheduled Tasks for the frequency or your Daily Device Identification Task.

If you hit Edit, then Schedule, you can run the task immediately using the Run Now button.
