Check the Discovery filters are not excluding Unknown or Unmanaged devices.
The HPSIM Server needs snmp set correctly just like any other device so that the HPSIM service can discover it.
Check dns resolution is working correctly from the HPSIM server, e.g. do an nslookup of both name and IP address and check the results correspond.

I have a server which is not automatically being discovered. I have tried to add the server manaually through Options > Discovery > Manual - but then I'm told the server already exists.

I cannot find the server in the Insight Repository at all.

This "missing" server happens to be the server that actually runs Insight Manager, and also has VCRM installed. Does this make a difference?

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure you have checked also 'All Systems' and not only 'All Servers'?

Yep, I've checked everything. I've gone through the printers, ILO's etc etc.

Can't see it anywhere. Even tried to locate using IP address, but to no avail.

The manual add lets you add the IP address of the server I want, but it doesn't put the device into SIM.

Removed all the discovery filters and did a rescan. The device won't appear.

Consideing it says the device already exists when I try a manual add, is it possible the device is a hidden device somehow?

As this "missing" server happens to be the actual SIM server, I take it you can still have this device in the SIM database. There is nothing stopping the SIM server reporting itself is there?
