Having lots of issues first I am trying to figure out how to change event notifications from MINOR to MAJOR. Presently, I am getting bombarded. Where do I go to configure changing or turning off the minor? Also, where do I go to create or assign mibs to events? Can someone give me the big picture of how insight manager works, --collects data and then emails out events? I know these are all probably stupid questions, but I am clueless. Thank You

Dan,
Under Options > Events > Event Filters you will see where you can Accept (or Deny) Informational \ Minor \ Major \ Critical Events.
As far as the second question on "where do I go to create or assign mibs to events?"... Options > Automatic Event Handling > Email Settings (setup your SMTP info there).
Then...
Back to Options > Automatic Event Handling > New Task.
Under there you will have to pick an Event Category (i.e. Proliant Storage Event)...
Then pick one of the possible events (i.e. Physical Drive Status Change).
Pick what systems you want to have this event assigned to and on the next screen you can pick the check box next to "Email".
As far as the big picture goes...
What should happen is ...after you pick the various events (MIB traps) that could possibly come in from your targets (like the Physical Drive Status change listed above) ...that will then be forwarded to your SMTP server. Typically you would run through this same set of steps to get notified of Memory problems, Power supply issues, etc.
It probably wouldn't hurt to take a 2 day SIM class either. That might shed some more light on the big picture.
