    <description>You need to understand the process, then you may be able to better implement it.&lt;BR /&gt;Agents on the servers being monitored pick up errors. These then use snmp to send a trap to HPSIM. This generates and event. So on these servers snmp needs to have the trap destination set as the HPSIM Server.&lt;BR /&gt;In order for HPSIM to identify servers you need to let snmp in, so the server also needs the HPSIM Server as an allowed host.&lt;BR /&gt;You also need community names that are the same.&lt;BR /&gt;Also HPSIM polls servers for up/down and will also generate an alert if the server is down.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You then configure an event handling task to react to events, for starters create one to pick up all major and critical events and e-mail you.&lt;BR /&gt;test by using the HP Management Agents Gui (via Control Panel) to send a trap to generate an event.&lt;BR /&gt;Also, try searching this forum, this has been answered before.</description>
