Igor is incorrect. The only software in the HP SIM or management agents stack that attempts to communicate over DCOM is the WMI Mapper, typically installed on the HP SIM Central Management Server.

One of our new DL380's is regularily receiving a system event logged as:

Source: DCOM Event ID: 10009

"DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer SERVER_OLD using any of the configured protocols"

SERVER_OLD is a recently renamed machine, and I suspect from a little Googling that the issue is linked to the HP Insight Management Agents still referencing SERVER_OLD and not SERVER_NEW.

Is there a way of manually correcting the HP Insight Management Agents or must I re-install them (if so, how?).

Many thanks
David, I know about WMI nature of 10009 errors, but just from my experience - we often see this error after server rename. And reinstall/hostGUID delete help...

Thanks for your assistance Igor,

Can I ask which media you use to reinstall the Insight Management Agents? Is it part of the SmartStart setup?

Thanks

Paul

>>it part of the SmartStart setup?

SmartStart contain agents as well,
but you better use Proliant support pack (PSP)
Last PSP is 8.00.
Assuming you use windows 2003 download PSP here
http://tinyurl.com/ysm68m

Read this as well:
http://tinyurl.com/66fl4c

Installing entire PSP preferable because it will install all last drivers/software
but if you don't want to install entire PSP you can reinstall only management agents
- in this case check which version of management agents you have (i.e. 7.9, 7.91, 8.0) and download this management agents from HP site
http://tinyurl.com/yvhbe3
