HP Insight management agent.

Hi,

I am taking one step at a time and attempting to get HP insight managemnt agents (version 7) to send out alerts.

The alerts seem to be working. i.e. if i set a threshold i receive an alarm. I am trying to determine how often an e-mail is sent? And is there a way i can get the agent to check every 2 minutes or so. I attempted to set the Data collection interval, but that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

Actually, it seems i only get an e-mail sent when i restart the HP management agent.

Sorry,

Perhaps i should be clear with what i am asking.

1) can HP management agents send out regular notifications?

I am only receiving threshold alerts and other alarms when i restart the agent.

I am able to send test traps and an test e-mail is then sent to me. So that seems to work without an issue.

3) Where can i configure the HP management agent to check server status and send alerts at regular intervals?

Sorry if above posts didn't make sense. I am really struggling here!

Me too I have the same issue. It seems that the agents only send out the alert 1 time after the threshold is reached. Once the value goes under the threshold, alerts are send the next time the threshold is reached.

This is how its been behaving so far. Maybe there's a way to change it.

The data collection interval is to determine how often it checks the thresholds but it doesnt resend alerts unless the agent is restarted. For threshold other than disk space it waits for 15 polling intervals before sending an alert and in the 15 polling intervals, the threshold has to be reached. If the collection interval is 2 minutes, it means your threshold has to be reached for 30 minutes before getting an alert. For disk space thresholds it seems to alert me right away.
