I undertand the procedures to create a rule under AEH.

Your instructions will result in getting notification for all MAJOR events. Again, I only want to get alerts only on HARDWARE specific events.

Am I missing something here? Are all MAJOR events equates to Hardware failures?

Trying to setup Event Handling Rules. Unable to find documentation on the definitions for events in SIM.

Basically I would like to setup a rule to send me all MAJOR hardware events. For example, a down controller. Would this be possible in HP?

I went through AEH-Manage Tasks and was uncertain which events to add for this type of rule. Hence my request for documentations.

Does anyone have a working example for me to try?

Go to Options->Events->Automatic Events Handling->New Task
Under Events select the radio button for Events that I specify.
Then select Severity is Major.
Or you can set up a task to grab both Major And Critical events.

if you continue to add event type e.g proliant environmental and proliant storage then you will have covered most of the hardware events.

so to recap thats if event is critical or major and event type is proliant environmental or proliant storage.

hope that makes sense and works for you.

Sorry I missed the specific Hardware only. I don't know of a way of easily separating out hardware from other traps.

I've a feeling that most of the threshold alerts etc. are major.

You might want to just try excluding selected events if they're causing alerting issues.
