I used the VCA via the SMH to upgrade to the latest version, 3.0.X. Afterwards, the SMH will not start. I get the infamous "IE cannot dsiplay the webpage" message.

The service is running, and no errors are entered into the Win Event Log...

Anyone???

I have uninstalled and re-installed cp008601.exe, the latest version. GASP!

OS: Windows 2003 Server R2
ProLiant ML370 G5
Ran latest PSP 8.15 and post updates thru VCA.

Jerry

1) Make sure SMH service gets started

2) browse to https://localhost:2381 or https://127.0.0.1:2381 or https://<SYSTEM-NAME>:2381

3) check C:\hp\hpsmh\logs\error_log file for any error when starting SMH service.

4) Check Windows Application Event message & system Event messages related to SMH service.</SYSTEM-NAME>

Those were already exhausted

1) Service is started.

2) IE cannot display the webpage...Unable to Open after the upgrade. This worked fine before the 3.0 upgrade.

3) C:\hp\hpsmh\logs\ directory is empty.

4) No errors related to SMH entered into the MS event logs other than the service stopped and started when "cycling" the service.

I'm baffled!!!

I have even rolled back the SMH to a previous version, v 2.1.15.210. Same results!

Jerry

I ended up uninstalling and re-installing SMH. I did not delete the directory, which is a great recommendation for next time. This was the third time I followed this procedure.

Then, I reset IE and restored the default settings. Then, I checked and set the proxy server settings and accepted the site as a trusted site when challenged.

All is well...I find it peculiar that the upgrade would blow up (I use that as a technical term!) the IE settings when they were previously set.

Thanks!
