Hi Folks

I have a server where no matter what I try I cannot get the Management Agents to install.
Everytime I log into the server I get a CPQMHOST.EXE encountered a problem and needed to close and I also get the following in the event log:

Reporting queued error: faulting application cqmghost.exe, version 8.11.0.0, faulting module cpqmhost.dll, version 8.11.0.0, fault address 0x00002c2a.

During the install of the agents I also see the above message which repeats itself numerous times and then I get the following error:

Product: HP Insight Management Agents -- Error 1920. Service 'HP Insight Foundation Agents' (CqMgHost) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Followed by this:

Product: HP Insight Management Agents -- Installation failed.

and then finally this as SNMP crashes

Faulting application snmp.exe, version 5.2.3790.1830, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x404874af.

I have tried everything to try and fix this. uninstalled/re-installed SNMP, re-installed PSP, tried all differnt versions including the latest 8.15, removed all HP Components and installed PSP again, Re-Applied Windows SP2 in case of wrong SNMP version. I have rebooted probably about 100 times now inbetween and spent an absolute age on this

Anyone have any suggestions to help me fix this?

Thanks

AJ

I'm so un-impressed with this software full stop. How many revisions has this software been through. I have probably only 3 servers in total out of 20 that I've never had any problems with even though all the others have standard software on them and nothing out of the norm. I have spent weeks now trying to solve this issue. Come on HP you MUST have seen this somewhere during your internal testing!!?
AJ

Hello AJ,

I had the same problem you mentioned here. I noticed, that my snmp service stopt when trying to install the management agents. I removed and installed the snmp service in windows server 2003. after that i had no problems installing the management agents. now running 8.20 (same problem as with 8.15).

greetings,

Alex

You might want to try and swap e-mail addresses and try and identify a common component or feature or model series.

We have a number of HP Servers and I've had very few issues installing the HP Agents. Ours are all DL and BL series servers with just a couple of ML servers.

There is one server that always gives me issues and that runs some Ericsson software. I've never go to the bottom of what the issue is, but I know I need to ensure all of the Ericsson services are stopped before I do anything with the agents - it seems to be connected with SNMP.

I'd also just verify that the account used to do the install has full Admin rights to the server, and I'd also try running the install process on the console.
