This turned out to be a browser problem. I was able to run HPSIM from a remote system.

Deleted cookies and temp files and voila.

I'm running HPSIM 5.3 and just updated the CMS with the latest software pages that were down-rev according to VCA. During the process, HPSIM lost connection and the repository claimed it was empty.

After I rebooted, HPSIM hung on the HPSIM Systems State page, says it was loading data.
Clicking on "All Servers" causes an "Error on Page" in the explorer frame (lower left).

I looked at the system events and there were the following error events from WinMgmt/HPSIM. How do I recover from this?

11:41 - 1:44 WinMgnt Event filter with query "select * from HP_AlertIndication" could not be (re)activated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041010. Events may not be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
11:36 HPSIM 3 entries fixed in TABLE hpmxTargetStatus
11:36 HPSIM ERROR: TABLE hpmxTargetStatus KEY NodeID may contain 3 entrie(s) not in table devices KEY MxGUID
11:33 HPSIM mxdomainmgrcaught RMI Object has gone away, stop MxInventory, it will restart
11:33 HPSIM          Lost connection to database, exception: java.sql.SQLException: I/O Error: Connection reset by peer: socket write error SQL=select count(distinct(noticeId)), notices.NoticeSeverity  FROM devices  LEFT OUTER JOIN notices ON devices.deviceKey = notices.deviceKey  JOIN consolidatedNodeAuths ON devices.mxGuid = consolidatedNodeAuths.NodeId and consolidatedNodeAuths.userID = '0000001635c36f170000000400000006'   and   notices.state <=  2 group by notices.NoticeSeverity
10:01 HPSIM ERROR: TABLE hpmxTargetStatus KEY NodeID may contain 21 entrie(s) not in table devices KEY MxGUID
10:01 HPSIM 21 entries fixed in TABLE hpmxTargetStatus
