I am new and fighting with queries that will tell me when my server gets rebooted or goes down. And to get another when it comes back online on the network.
Is there an easy way for me to set up my events?

hello,

if you use HP SIM 4.0 or 4.1, then you have option: status change event.

Under menu Options>Status Change Event Settings select: Enable creation of system status change events.

This will cause a system unreachable
event to be sent whenever a system cannot be reached by a ping through the Hardware
Status Polling task. Enabling this will cause a system reachable event to be created whenever
the system is reachable again

ivan

I have finally updated SIM with all patches and I also have your advice checkedmarked. I still can't get it. Is there an MIB on the server that should be there that isn't? I can get it to page me when the server does a cold start, but that's it.

If you have checkmarked option Enable creation of system status change events, shut down one server then run the Status Polling Task for Servers. When the task is finish you can view those event in query All Events (system is unreachable).

With Automatic Event Handling you have several options what happens when this event occur.

For more information about Automatic Event Handling see http://docs.hp.com/hpux/pdf/5990-8181.pdf

i.

hi,

go to options > events > automatic event handling and there it´s possible for you to create different tasks what happens when event´s occur. you can inform you with e-mails or starting actions.

maybe this is what you are looking for.

best regards c
