After synchronizing dir VCRM (2.2.1.830) repository with HP, the VCRM service crash during the Catalog validation. Windows restarts the service and the catalog will be validated again. So this is an infinite loop. I tried to delete all packages in the repository and uploaded some PSPs. After the upload VCRM was able to validate the catalog. After sync with the HP website the problem occurs again. I can’t see in the log file which update causes the crash.

Thomas,

Instead of disabling automatic update, it might help to create a dummy file with same name as the files mentioned in your earlier post.

If those files are indeed the problem, you may mislead the VCRM by creating a dummy file with same name, thereby causing it not to attempt the download again , and thus avoiding a crash.
Seems like VCRM is not handling some of the meta data information contained those RPMs files.

I still have the same problem. During the last weeks I installed several VCRM and filled them with data from other repositories or from the internet. Every repository had the same problem. Deleting not associated files costs a lot of time but didn't worked for me.
I installed another yesterday on a physical server which still has support.
Hi folks,

I got a answer from second-level support this morning:
"I have checked with the next level and have been updated that this issue is a bug in the 6.x version of VCRM and is scheduled to be fixed in the next release of VCRM which is scheduled to be released by the end of January 2011."

I got a VCRM working using process monitor from sysinternals. After VCRM crashes I take a look at the log and overwrite the last examined file. I found at least three components which led to a crash. Lovely method to spend an entire work day ;-)

Jens
