We have solved the problem it had something to do with the snmp settings, especially with the security, "Accept snmp packets from these hosts" we have included the sim host and now everything is ok.

Hello,
How can i manually add a server in HP SIM? We have two new servers which don't show up in HP SIM. DNS is ok, Managemnet homepage is installed no problem at all. When i send a test trap form the system management homepage on the specific server i see the message "The SNMP management agent was unable to forward an SNMP trap to the Compaq Remote Insight Board trap due to processing error" in the event viewer. Please help.

Hi,

In SIM V5.3 use "Options"-"Discovery". Create a new collection with the name "Add Single Systems", for example. Add your new devices, save it and run this collection now.
Furhter devices can be added by editing this collection.

From the command line:

mxnode -a [IP_or_DNS_name]

This also can be put into a custom tool.

hi,

can you even ping the systems from your hp sim server ? is there a firewall in the way ? have you double checked your snmp settings/community strings on the two servers ?

hth
