System Manager Homepage

I have uninstalled and re-installed last version of system manager homepage, but I gives this error
"failed to add or start the hp system manager homepage service"

OS: Windows 2003 Server R2
ProLiant DL3780 G5

Hi,

After uninstalling SMH remove all the folders.
Hp and Compaq folder in System drive.

Reboot the machine.

Now install SMH again.

I followed your council, I removed the folder hp and compaq and re-installed but I give the same error
"failed to add or start the hp system manager homepage service"

and the HP Version Control Agent for Windows is not installed

Try the manual uninstall of smhp per http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01658585/c01658585.pdf - Page 66

Did you reboot between the uninstall and re-install? I believe this is necessary to allow some registry entries to be cleared out after the uninstall. I have had to do this on a few Windows servers recently after an update program for SMH and VCA...

1 - The server has no service SMH (SysMgmtHP)
2 - SMH removed through Add / Remove Programas in the Control Panel presents this error "Failed to remove the System Management Homepage Service"
3 - Delete all directories in c:\hp c:\compaq
4 - I search the keys in regedit, these do not exist

\HLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\System Management Homepage
\HLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\(3C4DF0FD-95CF-4F7B-A816-97CEF616948F)
\HLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\System\HP System Management Homepage
\HLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SysMgmtHP
5 - I reboot and re-install
Presents the same error
"failed to add or start the hp system manager homepage service"
