We are using VCA for Windows in three managed environments under 32-bit Windows 2003 and 64-bit Windows 2008.

Version 2.2.1.830 installs and seems to work OK on computers that are repository managers.

When VCA is upgraded from 2.1.10.801 to 2.2.1.830 on client servers, the associated service intermittently throws exceptions and stops and the VCA tab in the System Management home page does not display correctly. Stopgap is to revert to 2.1.10.801.

Thanks in advance for assistance,

John

We had a similar issue where the VCA service would fail and we would get page cannot be displayed when we opened the agent page.

This turned out to be caused by a "+" in the password for the account used to connect back to the SIM server. We changed to a password made up of only alpha-numerical characters and everything worked ok.

Looks like they've fixed it:

HP Version Control Agent for Windows
2.2.2.835 (4 Nov 2009)

Fixes:
- Internal server errors occur if password contains special characters
- Target node requires a reboot after VCA upgrade
- VCA causes SMH to timeout when the SNMP community string is set using Group Policy editor
- VCA restarts when it is reinstalled /upgraded with other components from VCA Home page
- Version Control Agent fails to respond during SIM SW status poll
- Built with Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (8.0.50727.4053)
