How do I disable the insight manager from sending me email alerts for just the system status (reachable or unreachable.

To disable the Alerts globally:
Options -> Events -> Status Change Event Settings

If you only want to disable the email you receive but keep on creating the events in SIM, then you need to set up a condition in your automatic event handling task.

In this way will I be able to disable certain email alerts just like the ones when the server goes down.

The steps above are *only* to disable the unreachable events.

What my be better is to change your email alerts:
Options -> Events -> Automatic Event Handling -> Manage Task
There you can edit the Event collection so you only receive what you want.
